I.PROGRAMS
th
a.Bulk loan of materials was prepared for ICS for Prek, Kindergarten, 1, 2, and 5 grade classrooms,
Adventure Club, and Mini Adventures. We also prepared a special bulk loan for a teacher at Valley
View; we pulled 100 historical fiction titles for students in grades 3 and 4 learning about American
history.
b.Classes from ICS visited on 11/5, 11/6, and 11/7.
c.The fall session of storytime ended on 11/5. Storytime will begin again on 1/14/14.
d.READ Dogs was cancelled on 11/4.

II.COLLECTION
a.Book orders were placed from the following selection tools: Kirkus 7/15/13, Booklist 6/13 and 7/13,
and School Library Journal 6/13 and 8/13. Orders were also placed in the following areas:
replacements, adds, and spoken word.
b.Weeding in nonfiction was finished from J394.2-J398.9.
III.PROJECTS
a.Planned gaming program for 11/25-11/27 including purchasing new games and creating a Live-
Action Angry Birds interactive game..
b.Planned make & take crafts for winter reading program.
c.Rearranged several parts of the children’s department. Moved YA nonfiction and audiobooks near
graphic novels, moved children’s audiobooks to freestanding shelf, and pulled out all books in
Spanish for a special section. Made new signage to label the different areas in the department.
d.Created book bundles- thematic bundles of 3-5 picture books on display. Themes included New
Baby, Going to the Dentist, and Funny Books. Several parents have expressed appreciation for
these easy-to-grab books on popular themes.
IV.GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a.11/4: Met with Library Friends group; worked on a joint project with them for new bulletin
board.
b.11/5: Met with Maggie Snow to discuss Legacy programming
c.11/8: Met with other ACL youth staff to plan for summer reading program.
d.11/11: Attended Booked for the Evening event at St. Kate’s to learn about best youth books in
2013.
e.11/12: Attended Coffee with a Cop event at CHPL; discussed special police storytime with Captain
Austin.
V.STAFF
a.This month the major projects page staff worked on are as follows: putting out books for new and
thematic displays, cutting out leaves for ongoing craft, and making a list of audiobooks ordered by
ACL in 2013.
b.Kelly Olson worked on massive end-of-year book and audiobook orders. Kelly also assisted in the
many bulk loan bins we had this month. She completed her usual tasks including month end
reports, magazines, counting money, receiving books, and purchase requests.
c.Michelle Wermerskirchen began as the new Library Aide on 11/19. She worked on creating the
winter library newsletter/calendar for December-February.
