I. PROGRAMS
a.Bookawocky, the Summer Reading Program for children and teens, is more than half-way
done. Participants continue to turn in book reviews.
b. Bulk loan of materials were prepared and picked up as follows: for Adventure Club on 7/19 and for
ICS on 7/1, 7/15, 7/22, and 7/29.
c. Make & Takes is a drop in, weekly craft program. It was held each Monday morning this month.
d. Summer storytime met four times and concluded on 7/23.
e. Three Wacky Wednesday performances were held this month: Brodini the Magician on 7/3,
Dazzling Dave Yo-Yo Master on 7/10, and Reptile and Amphibian Zoo on 7/17.
f. Anoka County Child and Teen Check-ups was present during Wacky Wednesdays on 7/10 and 7/17
to give away freebies promoting child health and wellness.
g. Crafternoons met on Thursday afternoons. This was a teen program focusing on a different art
project each week.
h. Read and Grow with Como Zoo and Conservatory, a planting storytime program, was held on 7/5.
i. Lego Ninjago, an art and book series-based program was held on 7/13.
j. Two sessions of the American Girl Program was held on 7/31.

II. COLLECTION
a. Book orders were placed from the following selection tools: Booklist 2/15/13 and Kirkus 2/15/13.
b. Weeding was done in the following areas: Easy picture books S and J Fiction S.
III. PROJECTS
a. New shelving will be installed on August 5, 2013. Books in the J Fiction, Graphic Novel, and YA
Fiction areas will be shifted accordingly.
b. Summer Reading VolunTeens: 14 teen volunteers have put in 143 hours of service this month.
c.Preparations for August programs are finished. This includes following up with the separate
agencies leading the Super Science Saturdays, gathering materials for Make and Takes, and
set up for the book clubs.
d.Preparations for fall programs continue, and this includes scheduling school visits and bulk
loan schedules.
IV.GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a.7/23: Community Picnic at Huset Park
V.STAFF
a.The page staff members have been doing a remarkable job in balancing the tasks that need
to be done throughout the department to keep it in order (shelving, straightening, shifting)
with the tasks at the desk (check out, answering questions, locating books.)
b.Kelly Olson primarily focused on her monthly duties: money count, book orders, library
cards, magazines, and receiving book purchases. She assisted with the American Girl Tea
Party.
c.Candice Marsh collected this month’s program statistics. She assisted with American Girl
Tea Party set up. She has begun working on publicity for fall programs including the
Spaghetti Dinner, Read Dogs, and Storytime.
