The purchase request for new shelving in the J Fiction area has been submitted, and confirmation will be finalized once the purchase order is returned. Because the cost of the original request totaled half the amount budgeted, I have decided to move up a proposal to purchase additional shelving in 2014 for the same area using the left over money. In the long term, this change from the original proposal saves money, time, and staff work involved because the new shelving will be ordered and installed just once, instead of twice, over the two year period. IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a. Friends of the Library meeting on 4/1. b. 3M Cloud Library training on 4/5. c. Ask MN reference shift on 4/11. d. Valley View Carnival on 4/12. e. In addition to normal monthly duties of counting money, book orders, purchase requests, library cards, magazines, and receiving, Kelly Olson assisted in training the new pages. c. Candice Marsh continues to work on posters for summer programs. I trained Candice in weeding this month. This was done for cross-training purposes, and she will occasionally weed for special projects as well as to gain more exposure to the children’s collection. She is has also begun working on two major projects: a large summer bulletin display and preparations for the American Girl Party.
