Currently we are half way through weeding the easy non-fiction and easy readers section in their entirety. A majority of these areas have not been weeded for almost 6 years, and it shows as there is a noticeable high number of books that need cleaning, repair, or to be withdrawn altogether. c. Weeding in areas according to the Weeding Schedule is proceeding as normal. This month’s areas include: fiction P-Q and non-fiction 000-229. d. Books of popular cartoon, movie, and television characters are now on permanent display for ease of location. They are in specially labeled blue bins on the shelf adjacent to the DVD spinner. III. PROJECTS st a. Concerning the 21 Century grant, it has been recommended that the Library continues to schedule programming in intentional coordination with the school district—especially in the months of May, August, and during school vacation breaks. I am currently working on increasing the programs we offer in August while balancing the schedule because traditionally, this has been a month used to transition out from the extremely busy summer to prepare for school visits and programs in the fall. b. Summer events and programs were submitted for publication in Heights Happenings on 3/22. c. Plans were made for National Library Week. The children’s department will put on display titles of patrons’ favorite books and hand out a small treat at the checkout desk. d. COH’s “Wacky Wednesdays” program schedule was submitted to ACL for inclusion in the Anoka County Parks Brochure on 3/1. e. Contracts for summer programs are still being sent out, received, and processed. f. Three quotes for new shelving in the J Fiction area were solicited. From these, I have made the selection to purchase Burroughs shelving from Mid America Business Systems. The anticipated delivery and installation is projected to be sometime mid-May to early June. IV. GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY a. Friends of the Library meeting on 3/4 b. Latino Parent Group presentation on 3/6 c. Ask MN training on 3/8 d. 21st Century Meeting on 3/18 V. STAFF a. Pages aided in weeding, entering titles of books from selection tools, shelf reading, and maintaining displays. They searched for titles from missing, new/display books, and last copy reports. Page staff also maintained the collection by cleaning, mending, processing, and withdrawing books. b. Kelly Olson continued sending out performer contracts and filed purchase requisitions in regards to programming and supplies. She also worked on book orders, magazines, counting money, and assisted where it was needed in the absence of the Adult Services Clerk, especially troubleshooting copy machine issues. c. Candice Marsh prepared promotional materials for upcoming spring children’s programs as well as the Linder’s sale, and she has begun working on posters for summer programs. She updated st the order files, kept 21 Century statistics, maintained the stairwell bulletin board, and put up two displays: Dr. Seuss and spring into poetry. She assists in programs by setting up, putting materials together, and counting attendees.
