I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT
A. Fidelity buffed the activity room and break room floors on 1/4.
B. The exterior windows were washed on 1/4.
C. Public Works kept the sidewalks and parking lot during snow and ice events.
D. Heights Electric repaired ballasts in downstairs light fixtures on 1/29.
II. COLLECTION
A. Regular book orders were placed during the month; selections were made from the
September and October issues of Booklist, Kirkus Reviews, and Library Journal.
B. 10-day book requests were reviewed weekly; no additional titles were purchased.
C. Last copy weeding of books was done weekly.
D. Weeding of Fiction H, I, and J were completed using collection check reports from
Collection HQ.
E. New shelf labels, utilizing both Dewey Decimal class numbers and descriptive words,
were created for the Non-Fiction 700s.
III. PROGRAMS
A. Anoka County Library staff presented two classes on using e-readers to access library
resources on 1/5.
B. The Friends met on 1/7. The Friends collected dues, planned for the fundraiser Pancake
Breakfast at the Lighthouse on 2/1; and clipped Campbell’s labels.
C. The Library Board met on 1/2.
D. Winter Jackets, the adult winter reading program, and Book Warms, the children’s
reading program, began on 1/22.
E. Bulk loans were prepared for Immaculate Conception School (3) and Adventure Club (3).
F. A children’s Make and Take: Lois Ehlert event was held 1/26.
G. Elaine met with the Adult Book Club on 1/30 for discussion of Caleb’s Crossing by
Geraldine Brooks.
H. Four classes from Immaculate Conception School visited.
I. Materials were selected and delivered to At Home Service patrons.
J. Federal and state tax forms were received and displayed on 1/15.
IV. TECHNOLOGY
A. City information services have restored the CH1 public internet computer, which had
been inoperable since late November.
V. STAFF
A. Mai Kao and Elaine made a presentation to the City Council about Winter Jackets and
BookWarms on 1/28.
B. Kelly presented preschool storytime on 1/15.
C. I conducted a 6-month performance evaluation for Assiya Hassan (Page) and a 12-month
pe for Gianna Ritzo (Page).
VI. FOUNDATION
A. I met with the Foundation on 1/9. The foundation reviewed the results of the film
fundraiser held on 12/2. The 2012 film fundraiser was more successful than the previous
year due to donations received at the event; the reduced cost to rent the Hitchcock film;
and the addition of a small silent auction.
MISC
A. The Library Task Force met on 1/7, 1/14 and 1/28. The Task Force engaged in discussion
of their vision statement and preliminary report to the City Council; reviewed a draft final
report of the space needs analysis conducted by Leo A. Daly; and received a request from
the Sister Cities Committee for display space in the new library.
B. On 1/24 the City Council, Library Task Force, and Library Board gathered to review a
proposal from Frank Dunbar for a redevelopment of the Northeast Business Center for a
combined City Hall, Library, and market-rate senior housing.
C. I met with the Public Service Committee of the Anoka County Library on 1/10.
D. I met with the Management Team of the Anoka County Library on 1/3, 1/17, and 1/31.
