I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT
A. Fidelity polished and buffed the activity room and break room floors on 11/21.
B. Windows were washed on 11/8.
II. COLLECTION
A. Regular book orders were placed during the month.
B. 10-day book requests were added weekly.
C. Last copy weeding of books was done weekly.
III. PROGRAMS
A. The Friends met on 11/5. Task Force members Mike McGee and Kate Collopy made a
presentation on findings to date and answered questions.
B. Manga Club and Café, a program for teens, was held on the afternoon of 11/5.
C. The Library Board met on 11/7.
D. An instructional class about One-Click Digital, a new library service for downloadable
audiobooks, was held 11/13.
E. Two sessions of Preschool Storytime were presented.
F. MacPhail Center for Music presented “Sing, Play, Learn” on 11/20.
G. Seven bulk loans were prepared for Immaculate Conception School, Adventure Club, and
Mini-Adventure Club.
H. Two programs on Pokémon were presented by Abrakadoodle on 11/17 and 11/19.
I. Elaine met with fifteen people for the Adult Book Club discussion of 11/22/63 by
Stephen King on 11/28.
J. Three classes from Immaculate Conception School visited.
K. Five Head Start classes visited for special storytime and a library tour.
L. Materials were selected and delivered to At Home Service patrons.
IV. TECHNOLOGY
A. Anoka County library staff began modifying the public catalog; work continues to make
the public material catalog more attractive and functional.
V. STAFF
A. MaiKao met with the Friends on 10/1.
B. Library staff met with Cindy McCleary of Leo A. Daly to provide feedback for the
library needs analysis.
C. Staff threw a baby shower for Library Clerk Ramon Gomez who is expecting his first
child.
D. Elaine attended vendor-provided training for One-Click Digital, a revamped platform for
downloadable audiobooks. She subsequently trained other library staff in its use.
E. All staff, especially the part-time pages, worked diligently to shift collections and
alleviate patron inconvenience during the carpet installation.
F. Stacey oversaw a new program to display print collection materials on existing shelving.
VI. FOUNDATION
A. I met with the Foundation on 11/7. The foundation finalized plans for the film fundraiser
and received an update from Task Force members Jane Bona and Nile Harper.
MISC
A. The Library Task Force met once. Members received the final report from the consultant
regarding space needs and site considerations for a new library.
B. I proctored one examination.
C. I met with the Management Team of the Anoka County Library on 11/8.
D. With city department heads met with representatives from NSI Horwitz to review 2-year
maintenance contract for HVAC systems.
E. Major projects:
a. Carpeting of the East Room was completed on 11/12 while the library was closed for
the Veteran’s Day Holiday. Public works staff moved furniture out on Thursday and
back in on Tuesday morning. Re-shifting of collection materials continues as time
permits.
b. I negotiated with Anoka County Library to purchase disc repair and polishing
services to maintain our video, spoken word, and music disc collection.
