I.PROGRAMS
a.Bulk loan materials (3bins, 45 books each) for ICS were picked up on 11/1 and
11/29. Books for ICS are pulled and prepared for pick-up every 4 weeks. Bulk
loan materials (3bins, 45 books each) for Adventure Club were picked up on 11/8.
Materials for this group are pulled and prepared for pick-up once every 9 weeks.
One bin (50 books/media) for Mini Adventures was picked up on 11/16. This bin
is exchanged once every 6 weeks.
b.Manga Club and Café was held on 11/5. With District 13 students off of school,
we had a remarkable turn out and teens asked for the program to be repeated
again! This program was possible through the joint effort of all the staff,
including the pages organizing the books, as well as Kelly and Candice running
the program while I attended a meeting.
c.Classes from Immaculate Conception visited on 11/13 and 11/15.
d.Storytime was held on 11/6 and the last program for the season was on 11/13.
e.Pokemon Party program led by Abrakadoodle was held on 11/17 and 11/19.
f.The MacPhail Center for Music’s Sing, Play, Learn was hosted on 11/20.
g.Five classes of Head Start preschoolers visited the library as a field trip.
Storytime and a library tour were provided to each group.

II.COLLECTION
a.As budgets are wrapping up for the year, many book orders were placed this
month. They are as follows: bestsellers; series replacements; book/CD combo
sets; children’s spoken word; collection development for J900’s; Kirkus Reviews
6/15/12, 7/1/12, 7/15/12; Booklist 7/12; and School Library Journal 6/12.
b.Weeding was conducted in the following areas: J Fic O-P and Easy M-O (both in
areas of which we are now well ahead of schedule) and J932-960.
III.PROJECTS
a.Planning and preparation for the Winter Reading Program has begun. We are
making the reading logs and registration cards in house and incentives will be
ordered.
b.In anticipated of my time off at the end of December and into January, I am trying
to work ahead in all areas of the department including weeding, ordering,
scheduling, staff project assignments, and program preparations.
IV.GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a.Friends of the Library meeting on 11/5.
V.STAFF
a.The department has been steadily busy with programs this month. In addition to
usual duties, pages regularly assisted in activity room program set ups and tear
down.
b.Library Aide: Candice produces posters to publicize programs and events, files
paperwork, assists in storytime set up, and updates program attendance statistics,
and maintains the department bulletin boards. This month she has also be
organizing files and posters in the storytime collection.
c.Children’s Clerk: Kelly assisted in the many bulk loan bins we had this month.
She completed her usual tasks including month end reports, magazines, counting
money, receiving books, and purchase requests. She attended the selection for
Employee of the Year meeting at City Hall on 11/27.
