I.PROGRAMS
a.Baby Read, Baby Grow started on 9/17 with one of the highest program counts
we’ve seen in the past year. BRBG is conducted in partnership with Dist. 13 and
Denise Oster, a Parent Educator, is a co-teacher of this program with me.
b.Storytime started on 9/18, and attendance consistently averages in the 70’s!
c.Bulk loan materials (3bins, 45 books) were prepared for ICS on 9/6 and were
picked up on 9/17.

II.COLLECTION
a.Book orders were placed in a number of areas including the following: Kirkus
Reviews 3/1/12; Booklist 4/15/12, 5/1/12; School Library Journal 4/12; children’s
books on CD; series; adds; non-fiction; and replacements.
b.Weeding was conducted in the following areas: J921, Easies K-L, J Fic L, and EJ
Fic R-S.
III.PROJECTS
a.Statistics for the Summer Reading Program were finalized and reported to Anoka
st
County, 21 Century, and Renee Dougherty. I hope to spend some time
examining the discrepancies in how these statistics were recorded, an d revise
plans so next year it can be done in a more accurate fashion.
b.Planning and preparation for Teen Read Week is underway. The theme is “It
Came From the Library.”
c.Program plans for publication in the Winter Heights Happenings were submitted
on 9/28.
d.READ Dogs will begin in October. Registration is full, schedules have been
made, and the staff assigned to the program will have a short refresh in training.
IV.GRANTS, MEETINGS, COMMUNITY
a.Friends of the Library meeting on 9/10.
b.Training for booklist groups and websites with Anoka County Libraries on 9/21.

c.21 Century Grant meeting on 9/24.
d.Collection HQ training with Anoka Count on 9/26.
e.PE meeting with Linda Magee on 9/27.
f.Valley View Family Night on 9/27.
g.Columbia Heights Family Night on 9/28.
V.STAFF
a.Pages: This month the staff worked on the following: shelving, weeding, program
set up, maintaining bulletin board displays by finding and adding books, selection
tool lists, processing new books, and finding missing books. They continually
also assist with small department projects, such as organizing the storytime
collection, cutting letters for bulletin boards, and making ‘pink pads’.
b.Library Aide: Candice Marsh finalized the reports of summer program statistics.
She is working on preparations for Teen Read Week and publicity of programs in
October and November. She made a ‘Library Card’ bulletin board for the upstairs
entry way and has been working on updating the Fountas and Pinnell leveled
reading lists.
c.Children’s Clerk: Bigger projects Kelly worked on include the following: month
end, the book fund balance report, and magazines.
