R~er gave a recap of the joint meeting with Fridley Human Resomees Commission held July
We then went into a discussion of om future plans. A "Taste of Columbia Heights" event was discussed. Julienne
would call School Superintendent Dave Behlow to set up a meeting, to see if"Taste'' could be done w~th the
schools.
Meeting adjourned.
FOLLOW-UP' Julienne met w~th Dave Behlow and Judy Yantos of the Family Center on Oct 19 The school is very
interested in co-hosting such an event This wasa very early planning stage meeting but it was agreed Murz3.~ Hall
would be the best Iocatmn, and the end of March, 2001 a good time for the schools. The event so far would go like
this: For a fee of maybe a $1: L, uests could receive a small platter samphng from area restaurants such as Sahibs,
Olive Tree, Jang Wong. Art Work fi.om different countries and by our immigrants would be on display. We would
then mm'e in~o a forum where ~5 families pre-selected would te}l stories of their home count~', why they left, how
they got to the Heights, etc
Judy Yantos will be forming a steering committee and will schedule another meeting for the beginning of November,
w/th Julienne attending_.
