Rebecca Loader From: Renee Dougherty Subject: June 2012 Operational Report Date: June 27, 2012 I.Programs a.The Friends of the Library met on June 4. The Friends planned to assist with the “Live at the Library” event and the Jamboree Parade during the month. b.At Home Service selected and delivered twenty-six items to five patrons this month. c.Live at the Library happened at all Anoka county libraries on Saturday, June 9. With the help of two county staff members and Mai Kao Xiong, the Columbia Heights library hosted five fantastic artists or performance groups that were greatly appreciated by all in attendance. d.Four adult volunteers contributed fifteen hours of service. Volunteers served as literacy tutors and delivered materials to At Home patrons. e.Thirteen adults participated in the Book Club discussion of The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. f.One mentor/reader team met as part of the Buddy Up and Read program. g.A volunteer began meeting with three individual to “Buddy Up and Talk.” These conversational sessions with a literacy tutor are intended to help language learners gain fluency and proficiency in spoken English. II.Collection Development a.I placed an order for adult DVDs with Baker and Taylor. The order focused on collection development in Non-Fiction 300s and 500s and recent feature films. b.An order for popular adult music on CD was placed with Baker and Taylor. III.Projects a.Weeding was completed in adult and juvenile videos in sections DVD J and DVD 810-909. Weeding of adult audiobooks was completed for sections CD 810-909 and CD FIC J. Weeding for music was completed in section CD781.66 B – 781.66 E. b.I joined the Director in a meeting with Mark Trunzo, regional sales representative from Baker & Taylor, for an overview of the vendor’s new eBook interface. c.I joined other full-time library staff at a celebratory breakfast in honor of library page Gianna Ritzko upon her high school graduation. d.The large lobby bulletin board promoted “Live at the Library” through June 9. e.The slat wall display featured fiction books on fatherhood or father/child relationships. f.I attended Library Task Force meetings on June 4 and 18 and participated in the Community Listening session facilitated by the Task Force on June 25. g.I attended the Library Board on 6/6 in preparation for working with the Board later this summer. h.I placed an order for magnets with library hours and contact information with Janway. i.Two orders for paper and office supplies were placed with Office Depot. j.Along with members of the Library Task Force and Library Board, I promoted the library at the Jamboree Parade on 6/26. k.I attended training on Collection HQ, collection development software, which will be acquired by the Anoka County Library system.
