Rebecca Loader From: Renee Dougherty Subject: May 2012 Operational Report Date: May 30, 2012 I.Programs a.The Friends of the Library met on May 7. Meeting business included consideration of funding for items from the Director’s ‘Wish list’ and a presentation from new Children’s Librarian MaiKao Xiong. b.At Home Service selected and delivered seventeen items for three patrons this month. c.Four adult volunteers contributed nine hours of service. Volunteers read with adult learners and delivered materials to At Home patrons. d.Fifteen adults participated in the Book Club discussion of Moonlight Mile by Dennis Lehane. Member Laura Fix guided the conversation. e.Three mentor/reader teams met during the month in the Buddy Up and Read program. Three new readers requested buddies after visiting the library with adult education classes. f.I gave overviews of library services and building tours to three classes of English language learners (30 people) from the Metro North Adult Basic Education Center. II.Collection Development a.An order of adult DVDs, mostly non-fiction, was submitted to Baker and Taylor. b.A small order for adult audiobooks was placed with Baker and Taylor III.Projects a.I attended Staff Day sponsored by the Anoka County Library. Staff Day highlights included envisioning the Library in 2025, experimenting with e- readers, and presentations on generational types in the workplace and child protection services in Anoka County. b.Weeding was completed in adult and juvenile videos in section DVD I and adult audiobooks in section CD FIC I. c.The large lobby bulletin board promoted “Live at the Library” to be held on June 9. d.The slat wall display featured books on personal finance to coincide with the end of tax season. At mid-month the display was replaced with fiction about mothers and motherhood. e.I attended the Library Task Force meeting on May 14. f.I assisted the Director in preparing the proposed budget for 2013. g.Orders for office and program supplies were placed with Office Depot and Demco.
