Rebecca Loader From: Renee Dougherty Subject: December 2011 Operational Report Date: December 28, 2011 I.Programs a.Nine members of the Friends of the Library met on 12/5. The group shared holiday treats and conducted a brief business meeting. b.Project Bookshelf collected 209 books for children and teens. Books were sorted, counted, and delivered to SACA by Nancy Rathbun and Sandy Engquist of the Friends on 12/12. c.At Home Service selected and delivered forty-seven items to seven patrons this month. d.Seven volunteers contributed twenty hours of service this month. Volunteers served as reading buddies; delivered materials to At Home patrons; assembled a Jamboree scrapbook; checked audiovisual materials for damage; and delivered donated books to SACA. e.The book group did not meet this month. A bookmark listing the titles to be read in 2012 was produced. f.I made a presentation on the importance of reading and basic library services and materials to a GED preparation class at the Metro North Adult Basic Education Center. Fifteen students had numerous questions about the library and greatly appreciated the resources on reading with children. II.Collection Development a.A final order for music CDs was placed with Baker and Taylor. III.Projects a.The slat wall book display featured fiction under the theme “Award Winners You May Have Missed.” b.Orders for library supplies were placed with Office Depot and Demco. c.A library events calendar was printed with Church Offset Printing. d.I attended the Library Foundation fundraiser at the Heights Theatre on 12//4. e.I attended the holiday luncheon for city employees on 12/8. f.I met with sales representative from Agati Furniture on 12/13. g.I proctored a final examination for a student on 12/13. h.I prepared the procedure for the 2012 Winter Jackets adult reading program. i.I prepared materials to promote the February author talk by Julie Kramer.
