in one of them was dated 1965.
E. Orkin performed a routine inspection 12/15.
F. NSI Horwitz performed routine maintenance on the HVAC 12/19.
G. Public Works came to the rescue of the Library again on 12/21 by removing the cabinets
in the Boardroom before the installation of the new cabinets. Kudos to them!!
II. COLLECTION
A. Year-end book, DVD, and CD orders were all placed and received.
B. Standing order purchase orders for 2012 have all been submitted and plans have been
reviewed.
C. Year-end book fund accounting is current.
D. Adult weeding is behind, as we have been concentrating on the low/circulation report
prepared by ACL. It is a large report and is time consuming to process. I will try to
catch up on weeding over the winter.
E. The Pages are working on the adult non-fiction mending project.

A. The Library Board met 12/7 with six members and two staff in attendance.
B. The Friends of the Library met 12/5 with nine members present.

distributed through the local Southern Anoka Community Assistance (SACA) food shelf.

Re-booting the system seems to have solved the problem.
B. Ramon added a QR code to the poster for recruitment for the Task Force. It takes the
person directly to the application for the Task Force. Kudos to Ramon!
C. The new City website went live, and I am very pleased with the results. Ramon has
worked very hard to make the Library’s section look good and be functional. Kudos to
Ramon!
V. STAFF
A. Kelly and I were pleased to serve on the Employee of the Year Selection Committee this
year. The award is granted by employees to their peers and recognizes outstanding
service. I am delighted to announce that Dan O’Brien, Firefighter, has been selected as
the 2012 Employee of the Year. Dan is a real team player and still has his original library
card from when he was a kid. Kudos!
B. Nick Olberding has been a Page at the Library for 11 years. Prior to that, he was a patron
brought in by his parents from the time he was very little. Nick has a full time job and
has asked to be moved to the substitute list. He will no longer be on the regular schedule
effective 12/2.
C. Stacey demonstrated Tightrope and the options for video signage to Ben Trapskin,
Deputy Director of ACL on 12/5. Ben would like to have video signage available in the
ACL buildings.

Founding Day: December 3, 1928.

st

the grant year through July, 2012.
I. I attended two strategic planning sessions at ACL on 12/14.
J. Staff attended the annual City Holiday Luncheon 12/8, and we all enjoyed a delicious
meal. The Library staff must have been sitting at the un-lucky table this year, as none of
us won any prizes! Congratulations to Stacey Hendren on receiving her 5 year
anniversary recognition from the City. Thanks to all the people who made the event
possible.
K. I was invited to be the guest speaker at the Kiwanis meeting 12/20. I talked to the
members about the history of the Library and the Task Force to study the possible
replacement of the building.
L. Mai Kao completed two of the MELSA-required webinars during the month.
M. The newly-hired Page resigned before joining the regular schedule. The Library Aide has
also resigned. Interviews to replace both positions took place 12/28 from the next
qualified candidates from the last list of screened candidates. Hopefully, both positions
will be filled in January.
