STAFF a. I started the Children’s Librarian position on 9/13, and have been having ongoing training in a range of areas. I have been busy with programming, school visits, networking (most contacts do not know that Marsha is temporarily on leave), and planning for future programs. b. Children’s Department Clerk: Kelly Olson has completed magazine location project, updated "What is the library worth to you?" brochure, finalized the Immaculate Conception class and bulk loan schedule, prepared four bins for bulk loan to Independent School Dist. #13 (Adventure Club), and oversaw and presented during the Columbia Academy field trip, introducing online resources and research tools available at the library. Kelly has been indispensable in my transition into this position. Knowledgeable, gracious, and always willing to put aside what she is working on to discuss procedures or help. I look forward to working with her. c. Children’s Library Aide: Cristy Tombarge put up an Itty Bitty Booklists display, Library & Community Events Display, Library card sign up month bulletin board for Renee, Smart Cookie bulletin board, worked on Fundraiser drawing boxes, and READ Dog reading record books for participants. She also conducted training with Ramon in order for him to assist in her absence. d. Pages continued checking selection tools, weeding of the collection, and shelf reading. They have also assisted in small projects and set up public spaces for programs. Now that school has started again, pages have provided notable customer service and assistance to patrons in the department especially on busy weekday evenings. i. Regina has been a vital help in contributing to the successful start of a new session of the READ Dog program. She prepares the materials, signs, giveaways; she coordinates the logistics and transitions; and she problem shoots when there are scheduling issues and absentees. Her efforts are praiseworthy. V. COLLECTIONS a. Jon completed 5 book orders: 1 replacement order; Booklist for 3/15/2011 and 4/1/2011; Kirkus for 3/15/2011 and 4/1/2011. b. One order of Easy Book Combos has been placed to B&T. c. Weeding continues on schedule for J 660-744, E C, and CD Js.
