Two Sessions of spring storytime were held on March 15 and 22. b. MacPhail Center for Music provided a preschool program for parents and children on March 29. c. Immaculate Conception classes visited the library the week of 3/7. d. Five afternoon Film Matinees were held on Thursdays: 3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 3/31. e. Two Read Dog session were held on 3/21 and 3/28. A third team was requested to fill the demand. This program is funded in part with a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education using st federal funding, CFDA 84.287c, 21 Century Community Learning Centers. f. Bulk loan of materials was provided on 3/31. 2. COLLECTION a. Staff continues to work on the weeding of the collection. At this time J nonfiction through 630 is complete as is Easy A. b. Standing order for Listening Library CD books was placed. c. Collection development and replacements for paperback series titles is underway. d. One large book order was placed through Baker and Taylor. I am caught up with selection tools through January 2011. e. Graphic Novels have been weeded and some have been relabeled. 3. PROJECTS th a. I developed a recommended booklist for 5 graders to be used countywide as a part of the Summer Reading program. b. Preliminary preparations were completed for National Library Week. The theme for 2011 is “Create your Own Story” April 10-16. c. COH program listing for summer 2011was submitted to ACL for inclusion in the Anoka County Parks Brochure. d. Heights Happenings articles, to be included in the summer 2011 (JE, JL, Aug) newsletter, were submitted on 3/28. e. Staff continues to work on summer programming publicity and planning. 4. MEETINGS & GRANTS a. I attended a Heighten the Arts meeting on 3/29. st b. The Director and I met with the Coordinator for Columbia Heights Schools 21 Century Grant on 3/30. 5. STAFF a. Children’s Department Clerk prepared and sent book orders, sent a Books on CD order, participated in the Unemployment Webinar, provided one storytime session and conducted two field trip programs in the Librarian’s absence. b. Children’s Library Aide prepared promotional materials for Storytime, Film matinees, and Kids Read Dogs Listen. She updated the order files, prepared National Library week Bulletin Boards for both floors and prepared display materials for the City Hall display and 2 slatwall displays upstairs. c. Library Pages aided in the weeding of the collection, checking of selection tools, and provided customer service to the increasingly large number of patrons in the department at night and on weekends.
