APPROVAL OF AUGUST 3, 2009 MINUTES III.OLD BUSINESS REQUEST TO INSTALL STOP SIGNS AT THE INTERSECTION OF WASHINGTON STREET ST AND 41 AVENUE. Mr Donald Baron of 330 Orendorf Way (in new Huset Park townhomes) has requested stop signs at the st intersection of Washington Street and 41 Avenue. Mr Baron’s concern is the safety of the intersection. Mr Baron drops his daughter off at a nearby daycare and has observed many close calls. st Visibility at the intersection is good; westbound traffic on 41 Avenue has a partially obstructed view because of the hill on Washington Street. Captain Austin reported that there has been one accident at nd that intersection and one accident at 42 Avenue and Washington Street during the last three years. At the August meeting, Commissioners requested traffic counts and speed monitoring data from the trailer. Traffic counts were obtained for 48 hours from September 1 through September 3. Average daily st traffic (ADT) on Washington Street was 318 and ADT on 41 Avenue was 589. Traffic speed information will be available Monday evening. Based on the low volume of the road and the frequency of accidents, staff does not recommend stop signs be installed. RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to deny the request for Stop signs at the intersection of st Washington Street and 41 Avenue. IV. OTHER OLD BUSINESS V. NEW BUSINESS None. VI.
