I.PROGRAMS
a.Three sessions of Winter Storytime were held in February. Kelly Olson
provided one session in my absence.
b. Abrakadoodle provided a program based on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid
series on 2/18.
c.Classes from Immaculate Conception School and Global Academy visited
during the week of February 14.
d.Bulk loan of materials were provided to area schools on 2/24.
e.MacPhail Center for Music provided a special Sing – Play - Learn
storytime for parents and children on 2/22.
f.Two Movie Matinees were held on 2/17 & 2/24. Films featured were Up
and the Jungle Book.
II.COLLECTION
a.Large Book order was placed to Baker and Taylor
Collection development and orders for replacements are underway in the
b.
Paperback collections
c. Weeding of the following collection areas has been completed: Juvie recorded
music CD780-781.541 I, Juvie Audio Book 600-628. Juvie Print 600-628
III.PROJECTS
a.Summer Reading Program preparation is at a stand still awaiting
information from MELSA regarding product selection and availability.
Tentative planning is underway at COH.
b.Schedule for R.E.A.D dogs has been established we have two teams
registered for the spring session.
c.Baby Read Baby Grow early literacy programs have been scheduled to
begin in March. This is collaboration between the Library and ECFE.
d.Staff has begun preparation of the Summer Program publicity materials.
District 13 will be translating materials into Spanish for us.
e.Summer performers have been booked and contracts mailed
f.Volunteer recruitment publicity is prepared and ready for posting by mid
March.
g.Summer Events Calendar is in draft format and scheduled to go to the
printer in March.
IV.MEETINGS
st
a.I attended a 21 Century Grant Committee meeting on 2/16
b.I participated in a meeting of the HA (Heighten the Arts) Grant
subcommittee on 2/4 and subsequently aided in the writing of an MRAC
Education grant which was submitted on 2/7
c.I attended a training session on Windows 2010 on 2/15
d.I attended a City Council meeting on 2/14 along with two teams from the
R.E.A.D. organization. Mayor Gary Peterson read a proclamation
honoring the R.E.A.D. program and recognizing the Library during Love
My Library Month.
V.STAFF
a.Children’s Clerk, Kelly Olson worked on various forms of the 2009
annual report. Kelly attended Windows 2010 training on 2/10 and 2/22.
She placed and received several book orders and aided in weeding of
materials. Kelly also prepared the Volunteer recruitment materials.
b.Library Aid, Cristy Tombarge completed final checks of several book
orders, prepared materials for Teen Tech Week Bulletin Boards, produced
publicity materials for Kids Read & Dogs Listen , updated the order files.
She prepared the Summer Events calendar and summer program publicity.
Cristy also attended Windows 2010 training on 2/16 and 2/22
c.Pages spent the month of February processing materials, aiding staff in the
weeding of the collection, checking selection tools and book orders, and
shelving materials.
