Rebecca Loader, Library director From: Marsha Tubbs, Children’s Librarian Subject: January 2011 Operational Report Date: January 26, 2011 I.PROGRAMS A.Winter storytime sessions began 1/18 B.Four classes from ICS visited the week of January 10 C.Bulk loan materials went out to are teachers/classrooms on 1/6 and 1/ 27 D.Program schedules for summer have been completed and contracts will go out in May. II.COLLECTION A.An order was placed to 2010 award winning titles B.A large catch up order was placed for materials from the last quarter of 2010 selection tools C.Weeding of the collection continues. Staff is currently working on the easy W’s and Non Fiction 535. Weeding of the music collection CD 787-end is complete III.PROJECTS A.Weeding of items for the sale cart continues. B.Cleaning of CD’s began 1/27 C.Performers for summer 2011 have been booked and include: June 15 2:00 PM Teddy Bear Band June 16,23,30 2:00 PM Graphic Artist / Chad Corrie June 14 – 26 10:30 AM Storytime June 22 2:00 PM Bill the Juggler June 28 2:00 PM Create a Superhero /Abrakadoodle June 29 2:00 PM Magician Matt Dunn July 5 10:30 AM Treasure Beyond Measure July 6 2:00 PM Mixed Nuts July 11-Aug 15 3:30 PM Movie Matinees/Legacy July 13 2:00 PM Rad Zoo July 22 1:30 PM Star Wars Clinic /Abrakadoodle July 27 2:00 PM Magical Mia August 2 10:30 AM Ten Penny Tunes August 3 2:00 PM Bug- A- Wocky / Como Zoo August 10 2:00 PM American Girl Celebration D.Summer reading program planning is underway. Currently awaiting MELSA’s decision and release of program images and promotional items IV.GRANTS & MEETINGS A.I attended a meeting of the Heighten the Arts committee on 1/25. I am serving on the public relations subcommittee and consulting as a part of the grant writing subcommittee. The HA web site will go active by the end of January. This web site was designed to highlight arts activities within the community and will be available for the use by the City, Library, Churches and community groups. See http://www.colheights.k12.mn.us/ha st B.The next meeting of the 21 Century Grant committee is scheduled for February 16. I anticipate getting a budget update at that time. C.I currently am investigating 20 different grant possibilities for the Library and will be scheduling a meeting with the Director in February to discuss the options. D.I meet with all pages to discuss shelving issues and household issues in need of attention. V.STAFF A. Children’s department staff established new book displays, completed weeding of magazine collection, prepared contracts for summer performers, placed and received book orders, prepared promotional materials for R.E.A.D dogs (coming up in March), prepared promotional materials for both adult and children’s film festivals, prepared and submitted st 21 century program stats to District 13, prepared displays for “Winter Jackets” the 2011 adult reading program, prepared new shelf labels for the Nonfiction and YA shelving and continued with reorganization of all storage areas.
