I.Programs
a.The Friends of the Library met on December 10. They shared cookies and
discussed their recent trip to the Stillwater Library. The Friends
volunteered to staff the silent auction at the annual city holiday luncheon
and to deliver Project Bookshelf donations to SACA.
b.At Home service provided thirty-three books to three patrons this month.
c.The volunteers in the library donated twenty-two hours of service this
month. Volunteers delivered materials to At-Home patrons, served as
reading buddies for adult learners, shredded documents, delivered Project
Bookshelf donations to SACA, and staffed the silent auction at the holiday
luncheon.
d.The book discussion group did not meet this month.
II.Collection
a.A final DVD order was placed with Baker and Taylor early in the month.
Many children’s non-fiction videos and feature films as well as classic and
recent feature films for adults were added in anticipation of increased
demand during the winter months.
III.Projects
a.The library collected 145 new books for children and teens on behalf of
Project Bookshelf this month.
b.The Library collected new clothing and personal hygiene products on
behalf of the “Granny’s Closet” program for seniors in the county.
c.A display promoting Winter Jackets adult reading program was installed
in the lobby during the final week of December. The slatwall featured a
display of “good books you may have missed.”
d.Several supply orders were placed this month; library cards from Rainbow
printing; security materials from Minitex; office supplies from Office
Depot; library supplies from Demco; and receipt printer ribbons from
RACO Industries.
e.I met with the Safety Committee on December 16. The committee will be
drafting procedures for handling emergencies situations in city buildings.
f.I participated in a webinar to prepare library staff for the implementation
of Overdrive electronic books to begin in January 2011.
