PROGRAMS A. Preschool Storytime was held on Tuesdays at 10:30. Attendance ranged from 22 to 37 children. B. Classes from Immaculate Conception School visited the week of October 11. We are currently seeing 3 classes from this school with a total student count of less than 50. C. R.E.A.D. Dogs meet each Monday evening: the teams include 3 dogs and one cat. Spooner the cat celebrated his birthday on October 18. Treats were provided to all participants. D. The Thursday Afternoon film festival started small but attendance is growing. Four sessions were held during October. Teen Read Week ´ Books With Beat” was celebrated October 18 through E. 23. A special Wii gaming event was provided through the use of equipment from Anoka County Library. 14 Teens Rocked out to Wii’s Rock Band and gaming programs. Teen Read Week was celebrated 10/18-10/23 with the theme, “Books With Beat.” F. Baby Read Baby Grow, the library’s early literacy program, concluded on October 25. Spring sessions are planned for March of 2011. G. Bulk loan was prepared for area teachers and classrooms and picked up on October 28. II. COLLECTION A. Two book orders were placed from various selection tools B. An inventory was taken of the paperback titles currently on our standing order with B&T. Subsequently, a listing of missing titles was created and adjustments are planned for the 2011 standing order list. C. Weeding is lagging behind the intended schedule. According to the schedule we should have completed Fiction in all areas through T but are currently working on S in the JFic and Easy sections, Nonfiction should be completed through J399 but we are at J325 and have not started Large Print. D. The Juvenile Magazine collection has been moved to on top of the Non Fiction shelving. It appears to be getting more usage here. III. PROJECTS A. Users Guide to the Columbia Heights Public Library was prepared in Spanish and printed B. Changes were submitted to the Winter edition of Heights Happenings C. Programs were scheduled for the Winter Season and a calendar of events was created D. Year-end budget expenditures were placed and budget transfer requests were completed. IV. GRANTS & MEETINGS & COMMUNITY CONTACTS I attended ELL open houses at the High School and at Valley view A. elementary. The Library was invited to participate in the ECFE community shower on B. th 28. Materials were gathered for display at a table. V. STAFF A. Kelly Olson, placed and received several book orders, designed promotional materials for Wii gaming event, prepared a Library user guide in Spanish, aided in the weeding projects and continued to check library card application daily. B. Cristy Tombarge, designed promotional materials for the Foundation’s fundraiser, completed the winter calendar of events, prepared promotional materials for upcoming programs, established a Fall Book Display and aided in checking book orders. C. Pages created some new flannel boards, continued checking selection tools and weeding of the collection and set up public spaces for numerous programs.
