PROGRAMS A. I visited the elementary schools on June 1, 2 and 3 and promoted summer reading and our summer programs B. A full schedule of summer programming began the week of June 14. Attendance for all programs is up and we are keeping very busy. Storytime has been drawing large crowds and the Percy Jackson program was a big hit. COLLECTION A. Weeding continues but at a much slower pace. Staff finished the JFIC S section, and is working on the Easy S and YA S. B. A large book order was submitted to Baker and Taylor. I am behind on the selection tools as we are currently checking the February editions. C. Weeding and catalog entry checks were completed on the Easy Nonfiction through E 599. D. An order for CD books was placed with Listening Library E. Music CD’s were purchased and added to the collection F. The first order for Book and CD combos was placed. III. PROJECTS A. Planning for fall and winter programming is underway. Fall Storytime begins in October, R.E.A.D dog schedule begins in September, and Baby Read Baby Grow st also starts in September. Special 21 Century Grant programs and Legacy programs are being scheduled in July. B. Preparations for American Girl celebration in August are also underway. Kaya will be featured and participants will have the opportunity to weave a basket reminiscent of the Native American culture. IV. STAFF A. The month of June has been very hectic. On at least two occasions circulation for the day came in at 900 or more a good sign that the library is being well utilized. The children’s department is seldom without patrons and the staff is constantly moving to provide service. That being said we are behind on several of our regularly scheduled tasks. Kelly Olson, Library Clerk did manage to complete the month end statistics, and placed several book orders. Kelly also providing training for the new page on borrower registration. Cristy Tombarge, Library Aid has been very busy collecting statistics from our programs. The statistics are required for the grants and reports to MELSA. Cristy has also prepared flyers, posters and an events calendar for distribution to the public. B. Pages have been registering children for the reading programs and shelving an abundance of returned materials. They continue to check selection tools and process new materials.
