PROGRAMS A. Global Academy and Immaculate Conception classes visited during the week of October 5 B. Three sessions of Baby Read Baby Grow were held. Thanks to ECFE for covering in my absence. C. Four sessions of preschool storytime were presented. Thanks to Kelly for covering three of them in my absence. D. Bulk Loans were filled and picked up by October 22. E. Nine sessions with R.E. A.D. dogs were held in October. (programs funded in part by a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education using Federal st funding CFDA 84.287c, 21 Century Community Learning Centers). F. Teen Read Week was celebrated October 19-24. Teens were encouraged to participate in a scavenger hunt and given glow in the dark stadium mugs with candy and pretzels G. I attended a special ELL open house at CHHS on 10/1 and provided on-site access to the library’s catalog and demonstrations on the new Homework Rescue product. II. COLLECTION A. Weeding of J Fiction and Non Fiction is progressing but behind schedule B. Weeding of the YA Fiction is complete. C. Collection Development for paperbacks is underway. D. One book order was placed to Baker and Taylor. E. Juvenile music CD’s were ordered III. PROJECTS A. Staff prepared publicity materials for the Foundation Fundraiser on December 6. B. Requests for auction items for the fundraiser were made. Several items have been received. IV. GRANTS A. Plans are underway to establish program schedules for the remainder of 2009 and through 2010 based on funds received through a grant from the Minnesota st Department of Education using Federal funding CFDA 84.287c, 21 Century Community Learning Centers). B. The first material orders in compliance with the Dollar General Grant have been prepared and will be placed in November. C. Deadline for the Lois Lenski grant award is December 15 V. STAFF A. Thank you to all members of the staff who pitched in to pick up the work loads while I was on leave in October. Special thank you to Becky Loader for the extra work load she carried in my absence, to Kelly Olson for the Storytimes, John Brasnahan and Kelly for the Bulk Loan Prep, Cristy Tombarge and Kelly for the Foundation publicity items, Nancy Soldatow for the reference times that she filled in and Ramon Gomez and Stacey Hendren for picking up the clerical slack, and numerous Pages for the extra hours they worked to cover circulation. Staffing was very short this month and I recognize how hard everyone worked. Your efforts are appreciated.
