Rebecca Loader, Library Director SUBJECT: September operational report DATE: September 30, 2009 I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT A. Honeywell changed the filters and performed routine maintenance on the HVAC 9/3. B. Schindler performed routine maintenance on the elevator 9/18. C. The lobby ceiling leaked around the central air conditioning unit. Dalco came out to perform a water test and has prepared a proposal for repair. D. The windows were washed 9/1. E. Honeywell worked on the boiler in preparation for the heating season 9/28. F. The Anoka County Appraiser performed a routine walk-through of the building 9/8. G. Fidelity buffed the Activity Room floors 9/18. II. COLLECTION A. Three hardcover and two paperback orders were placed during the month. B. Additional copies of best-sellers and adult replacements were ordered. C. The Federal tax form order was placed. D. Adult 800 weeding is completed. Adult fiction is complete to K. The entire large print collection has been weeded. The reference collection is weeded through the 400’s. E. Collection development in adult religion and the 400’s is underway. III. PROGRAMS A. The new year of the Museum Adventure Pass program has started. The patrons are thrilled that the program is going to be around for another year. B. Global Academy brought classes to the Library 9/17 and 9/18. C. Pre-school story time started 9/29. D. Marsha attended an open house at ECFE 9/10. E. Bulk loans to the schools went out 9/24. F. The Library Board did not meet in September. Bills were paid via phone-in votes. G. The Friends of the Library met 9/14 with 9 members present. H. Classes from Immaculate Conception School started their monthly scheduled visits the week of 9/14. I. Baby Read/Baby Grow story time started 9/16 and was held weekly on Wednesdays during the month. J. Marsha attended Family Night at North Park Elementary 9/23. K. The fall session of Read Dogs started 9/23. L. A training workshop for would-be Read Dog trainers was held 9/26 at Murzyn Hall. M. Adult Book Club discussed Bad luck and trouble on 9/30. N. Stacey participated in taping the Calendar Show for cable broadcast 9/30. IV. TECHNOLOGY A. A new switch was installed in the City’s phone system on 9/21. A lot of time has been spent troubleshooting how the functions the Library uses have been affected. V. STAFF A. Fall schedule for part-time employees started the week of 9/7. B. Kelly conducted a review on card registration for two of the Pages 9/2. VI. FOUNDATION A. The Foundation Board met 9/9 with six members present. Marlaine went over all the details on the Spaghetti Dinner scheduled for 9/16. The Women of Today have volunteered to work at the event as one of their service projects. A 42” flat screen television will be raffled off as part of the fundraiser. VII. MISC A. Delivery switched to four times per week starting 9/14. Patrons are delighted that four-day delivery service has survived the budget cut-backs. B. The Sister City Organization put up a display on Poland in the East Room for October in honor of Polish-American month. C. .Major projects: a. 2010 proposed budget b. Holiday 2010 schedule st c.
