February operational report

I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND EQUIPMENT
A. The windows were cleaned 2/21.
B. Public Works performed many small maintenance projects during the month.
C. Orkin performed routine pest inspection 2/17.
D. Public Works repaired the cash drawer in the main desk 2/17.
E. Fidelity buffed the Activity Room floors 2/20.
II. COLLECTION
A. Several “catch-up” book orders were placed and received.
B. The first shipment of dvd’s has been received.
C. One adult paperback order was placed.
D. Replacement and added copy orders for books were placed.
III. PROGRAMS
A. Three sessions of preschool storytime were held during the month.
B. The Library Board met 2/3 with all members present.
C. Marsha made a presentation to the Community United Methodist Ladies group 2/4 on
Library services.
D. Marsha led the book discussion group 2/26 using The zookeeper’s wife 2/26.
E. Author Derek Anderson was a special guest for a one-day residency at ISD #13 and the
Library 2/11. He was thoroughly charming.
F. “Winter Jackets” reading club ended 2/18 with a final count of 181 participants.
G. The classes from Immaculate Conception School visited the Library at their regularly-
scheduled times during the week of 2/9-2/13.
H. The Friends met 2/2 with 9 people in attendance. They have requested a wish list to be
presented at their March meeting.
IV. TECHNOLOGY
A. Jeff is checking on adding memory to the public service terminals to speed up how
WorkFlows functions. Aleksandr is working on the public wi-fi change over.
B. Demand for Internet terminals has been intent this month, with the Q reaching more than
seven people in line several times.
V. STAFF
A. On 2/10, Stacey attended a presentation at LSS by Unique, a company that handles
collections.
B. Marsha participated in a CAPP grant meetings twice over the month.
C. The part-time Library Supervisors have really stepped up to the plate and helped with the
extra workload generated by the Adult Services Librarian position being vacant. We could
not have done it without them.
D. Stacey participated in a cable shoot for the Calendar Show 2/25.
VI. FOUNDATION
A. The Board did not meet in February.
VII. MISC
A. A MELSA crossover use survey was conducted 2/2-2/7.
B. Representative Carolyn Laine held a Town Hall Meeting in the Library’s activity room 2/14.
C. Major Projects:
a. Preparation of revisions to the 2009 Library budget
b. Preparation of scenarios for different levels of budget cut-backs
c. Preparation of the City version of the 2008 annual report
