II. COLLECTION
A. Weeding of the J745-789 is complete. Weeding of the J FIC D-E is complete. Weeding of the
Audio Books 745-789, E; CD781.642 C-781.642 J, CD E (E).
B. A small book order was placed to Baker and Taylor. A final small order for 2008 is planned for
December.
C. Juvenile paperback racks where shifted and repositioned within the room to allow for more
shelving.
D. Audio shelving units were shifted within the room to allow for additional seating space.
E. Weeding of YA collection was begun to create additional space.
III. SPECIAL PROJECTS
A. New work- stations (furniture) were installed at both the reference desk and the circulation desk
areas. The new stations make tasks more efficient and provide more file storage as well as
counter top workspace, something the department has been in need of for some time. Thank you
to Dana Weigman and Becky Loader for their efforts in getting the new furniture.
B. Holiday books for Both Thanksgiving and the December Holidays were placed on Display

C. Staff aided in preparations for the library’s 80 Birthday Celebration.
D. Preparations are underway for the Foundation’s Fund Raising event “ A Christmas Story”

MEETINGS
IV.
I attended
A. a CAPP Comprehensive Arts Planning Program at District 13 on November 19. The
committee established new deadlines for curriculum writing through January 2009.

B. Becky and I met with Linda Ernst from ISD #13 on November 25 regarding a future 21 Century
Grant application.
C. I joined Wilbur Hill , Liz Bray, and Mary Bussman fellow CAPP sub committee members on
November 17 . The subcommittee discussed the potential of establishing a CAPP web page to cover
community arts events and a potential grant application for public art in Columbia Heights.
V. STAFF
A. Children’s department staff took the opportunity to purge paper files and reorganize before the
new furniture arrived. Library Clerk Kelly Olson purged old LIBGIS files, and circulation files
based on the current retention schedule. I purged outdated program files and excess from
existing desk files while Cristy Tombarge Library Aide reorganized the circulation desk files.
B. Pages continue to check selection tools and aided in the reorganization and shifting of the
collection. Pages also aided in the weeding of the collection.
