The Friends of the Library met at the Dragon House restaurant on October th 6. Eleven members were present. The Friends have agreed to assist with the birthday celebration for the library in December. They will also be collecting books for Project Bookshelf once again this year. b. At Home Service has been busy once again, with 50 items delivered to 5 different patrons. Several interested patrons have also taken brochures about the program. c. Volunteers have assisted with many projects this month, and have put in 19.5 hours. They have cut out bulletin board letters, prepared for the birthday celebration, priced book sale cart materials, and laminated labels for the shelves. II. Collection a. I have placed a large DVD order this month. Some of the new selections include several anime titles plus a replacement for Roots. b. A music CD order has been placed this month, including several country titles. c. The remainder of the budget for books on CDs has been spent. I was able to order 20 titles at a 25% discount. Our patrons will welcome the new titles. d. I have been aggressively weeding the videocassette collection. Many of the titles are worn out or not circulating frequently. Some of the important titles will be replaced on DVD. III. Projects a. Fidelity cleaners have done an outstanding job lately. Our new cleaner has been doing an excellent job of keeping the shelves dusted. b. Displays for the month feature the New York Times Image Edition database on the bulletin board; the slat board includes a bone display with popular fiction titles. c. Federal tax forms have been ordered for January. The state forms will be ordered in December.
