Friends of the Library did not meet in August. The next meeting is September 8. b. At Home Service delivered 62 items and added one new patron this month. An increase in calls is expected in the fall. c. Volunteers have worked 24 hours at the library this month cleaning shelves, labeling files, pricing books, creating displays, and delivering materials to At Home patrons. II. Collection a. A DVD order was placed this month for popular fiction titles including: Bucket List, Leatherheads, and Ariel’s Beginning. b. A music CD order was placed for many popular titles. Additionally, many opera discs were added to the collection with this order. III. Projects a. I have taken three bids to have the laminate on the circulation desk upstairs repaired. b. Three furniture bids have been taken for the workstations in the children’s department. These have been disappointing overall, however, portions of some designs may be usable. c. The bidding process for the carpeting of the lobby and entry is complete. The th new carpet tiles will be installed by Millennium carpeting on September 5. d. Fidelity has hired a new permanent cleaner for the library. She seems to be doing a good job cleaning, and has communicated well with the library. e. Displays in the lobby are “Master the Art of Reading” featuring famous art and not-so-famous staff, and Books to Movies on the slat board. IV. Meetings a. I attended the final preparation meeting as a member of the staff day committee th on August 11 at LSS. We made last-minute adjustments to the schedule and organized the door prizes. nd b. Staff day was held at the Bunker Lake Activity Center on August 22. The daylong event went smoothly and included many skilled speakers. I appreciate the opportunity to attend and network with librarians from the county.
