I. PROGRAMS
A. Summer Storytime came to a close. We had consistently large attendance ranging betwee 50 and 60
participants per each of the eight sessions. At two of our storytimes representatives from Anoka County’s
Children and Youth Services Department were on hand to provide information regarding health
information available to families. Children received coloring books and storybooks while parents
received contact information and tips on health care and screening.
B. The program schedule was expanded to include 4 additional Tuesday morning programs. Our summer
programming will continue through August 26, thanks to funding provided through the Minnesota After
School Community Learning Grant.
C. Summer Reading Program Counts at this time are:

II. COLLECTION
A. Weeding of the J640-659, Audio Books J640-659, CD781-64 B-781.64 D and CD E (C) collections is
complete.
B. Staff also completed the low circulation report --weeding of the easy collection.
C. Staff began work on the Easy Readers Non fiction collection and is re-labeling these books to reflect
reader status. We will be looking at space availability for a separate section for this collection and may
be moving a large portion of the children’s collection to accommodate the nonfiction readers.
D. Dana Weigman is preparing purchase orders for additional shelving in the Young Adult section. Once the
shelving is in we will be determining the best arrangements for paperbacks and hardcover books within
the allotted space.
E. Dana Weigman is also preparing purchase orders for new workstations for Children’s Department staff.
This project has been a long time to fruition. The new spaces will be greatly appreciated.
III. GRANTS
A. I submitted the final MRAC grant report to Gwen Cannon. This report brings to a close the Library
Foundation’s grant for the Neighborhood Bridges Program provided through Children’s Theatre.
B. All Expenses for the Dollar General Grant have been paid and materials purchased are in circulation.
C. I have plans to submit at least one additional grant application before the end of this fiscal year.
D. The After School Community Learning Grant, Arts & Culture Programs have been booked and are as
follows:

IV. PROJECTS
A. Becky and I met with Jill Yngve of Simon and Schuster on July 8. Jill provided information on
promotional materials available (i.e. study guides, book marks, posters) through Simon And Schuster
Publishers. She gave me a marketing contact and has offered to work with me on potential programming
and author visits. I have contacted the marketing representative and requested some materials for our fall
visits to schools.
B. I was contacted by Kristen Stunkle from ECFE and asked to participate in the ECFE open house
scheduled for September 11. The Library will provide a table and information and registration for the
new Baby Read- Baby Grow storytime.
C. Fall planning is underway and schedules are being prepped for ICS class visits, fall storytime, and a
potential teen book club as well as the already scheduled Baby Read Baby Grow program.
D. The Children’s book sale cart has been active this summer. We are constantly adding new and gently
used materials to the cart.
E. Final preparations are underway for the American Girl program. Julies’ Flower Power Party will bring
back the 70’s in a BIG way.
F. I Am in the process of setting up a fall schedule for the READ Dogs program to begin in October.
V. STAFF
A. Children’s Clerk, Kelly Olson placed and received book orders, aided in the weeding of the collection,
and received magazines.
B. Library Aide, Cristy Tombarge has been busy creating posters and flyers for our new programming,
tallying summer program stats which will enable us to comply with the grant requirements, printing
materials for programs and aiding in the book ordering and receiving process.
C. Pages have been very busy with weeding projects, establishing book display e/o week, lots of shelving
and aiding with program registration.
