They made plans to help a member with a moving sale on June 26, with
the proceeds from the sale going to the Friends organization.
b. At home service made two deliveries this month totaling 33 items.
c. Volunteers have been coming on average four days a week to help in the
library. They design signs for the library, shift and clean shelves, price
items for sale, and clip Campbell’s soup labels. This month, volunteers
have logged a total of 15 hours.
II. Collection
a. A large non-fiction DVD order was placed this month with Midwest Tape.
Some new travel, exercise, history and religion DVDs were added. For
the children’s department, several popular titles were selected, including
Bob the Builder, Dora the Explorer, and Thomas the Tank Engine.
b. The reference collection was updated in June. New editions of some titles
have been ordered, including some recent Chilton’s repair manuals, an
updated video guide, a current atlas, and other titles.
c. Many new books on CD were made available to the public this month
with funds from the Dollar General Grant, and as a part of our standing
order plan. Sail by James Patterson and Front by Patricia Cornwell are
two of the most popular CDs recently added.
III. Projects
a. Fidelity cleaners has hired and fired a new cleaner for the building this
month. A reliable substitute has been filling in and the search for a new
permanent cleaner continues.
b. Displays this month include small-sized books for summer reading, and
the bulletin board features the library’s travel resources.
IV. Meetings
th
a. I will attend the staff day planning session on June 30 in Blaine. The
schedule for the day’s events, the lunch arrangements, plus any games and
giveaways will be discussed.
b. I volunteered at the Flint Hills International Children’s Festival on
st
Saturday, May 31 at the MELSA booth. Young people were encouraged
to decorate a chef’s hat to accompany the “What’s Cooking” summer
reading theme. The booth was a huge success in providing good public
relations for the metro area libraries.
