HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 1549ORDINANCE 1549 CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA BEING AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO ZONING AND DEVELOPMENT ORDINANCE NO. 1428, PERTAINING TO THE REZONING OF A CERTAIN PROPERTIES LOCATED AT 825 - 41S` AVENUE NE SECTION 1: WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights promotes the healthy and safety of its citizens by ensuring adequate public safety services; and WHEREAS, the rezoning of the subject parcel will enable the construction of a new public safety facility; and WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights recognizes that the PO, Public and Open Space zoning allows far public safety buildings as permitted uses; and WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights recent practice is to include publicly owned parcels in the PO, Public and Open Space District; and WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights has embraced redevelopment efforts as a means to revitalize the City's economic anal social welfare vitality; and WHEREAS, rezoning the subject parcel from R-4, Multiple Family Residential to PO, Public and Open Space provides opportunity for redevelopment of a vacant property; and WHEREAS, the rezoning is consistent with the City Comprehensive Plan, as amended by Resolution 2007- 133, and is in the public interest and not solely for the benefit of a single property owner; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Planning Commission has reviewed and recommends approval of the proposed rezoning from R-4, Multiple Family Residential to PO, Public and Open Space. SECTION 2: This ordinance snail be in fuii force and effect from and after 30 days after its passage.
