Friends of the Library met on March 3 in the Library Board room. They sent in 500 Campbell’s labels for bonus 500 labels. The Friends are volunteering to assist with the Read Dogs Program in the children’s department, and have also set up a Minnesota Sesquicentennial display in the case. b. At Home Service was busy this month. One additional patron signed up for the service. Seven patrons received a total of 76 items in March. c. Volunteers have continued with ongoing projects: cleaning shelves, stocking the book sale cart, and separating genre books from fiction. A total of 33.5 hours was put in by volunteers this month. d. Ron Rabinovitz presented his letters and memories of his friend, Jackie th Robinson in the activity room on March 11. Fifteen adults attended the program. The cable channel also interviewed Ron to show along with his presentation on the local channel. e. Hot Reads for Cold Nights was very successful this year. There were 61 registrations, 43 entries in the word scramble contest, 20 prize winners, and 156 books were read as a part of the program. II. Collection a. Two new titles were added to the CD book collection this month, View from Mount Joy, and Atlas Shrugged. b. A small music CD order was placed in March, including the soundtrack from the movie “Juno.” c. Twenty new DVDs were added to the collection, along with several replacement titles. III. Projects a. Fidelity cleaners has been doing a fine job of cleaning the library. Julie, the cleaning person is always responsive to my notes and suggestions. b. In March, the slat board display featured a huge shamrock and materials including Irish culture or society. The bulletin board honored Jackie Robinson and Rosa Parks in a “history lives” theme. c. I have been working on weeding the large print materials this month; we will also rearrange that section of the collection in an effort to increase circulation.
