PROGRAMS A. I participated in “I Love to Read Month” by reading to several Valley View Elementary first grade classes on l 2/6. B. Danielle Daniel, the first performance program as part of the Minnesota After School Community Learning Grant, drew a small but very enthusiastic group. C. The classes from Immaculate Conception School visited the Library at their regularly- scheduled times during the week of 2/19-2/22. D. The bulk loan was delivered to the schools on 2/7 as scheduled at the beginning of the school year. E. I attended Kindergarten Round-Up at Valley View, North Park, and Highland Elementary Schools. Spoke to parents regarding the importance of reading at a young age and took registrations for Library Cards. II. COLLECTION A. Updates and adds to Eyewitness Series titles were ordered B. Large Baker and Taylor order was placed C. Weeding of the J600-J628books, Audio and CD collection was completed D. Weeding of J paperbacks was completed E. Catch up orders from 2007 were placed. F. Updates and changes to the ordering spreadsheets seem to be working well. III. PROJECTS I A. participated in a planning and goal-setting session as a community representative for CAPP (Community Arts Planning Program). Survey results were tabulated and reviewed. My thanks to Dana Weigman for substituting in storytime so that I could attend this meeting. B. I attended a Summer Reading Program workshop at MELSA on 2/27. C. The Director and I attended a meeting of the committee for the Minnesota After School Community Learning grant on 2/7. D. At this time we have distributed over 50 tickets for Larrie Yazzie, Native American Fancy Dancer scheduled for March 10. E. Kids Read… Dogs Listen is scheduled to begin on March 6 registrations for this program are coming in daily and the Columbia Heights teachers are very excited about this offering. F. Love my Library promotions began 2/1 and include a button design contest and a coloring contest. Contests will continue until mid March. G. Ballots are now being placed for Maud Hart Lovelace award selections. Voting closes March 23. H. Book displays for the Month of February included “ Believe Achieve Succeed” Black History month and Picture books featuring African Americans. IV. STAFF A. Library Aide, Cristy Tombarge 1. Established the display areas listed above 2. Produced Posters for Summer Performers 3. Aided in the receiving book orders 4. Prepared and sent the first attendance tabulations for the Minnesota After School Community Learning Grant. 5. Created a booklist for an Upcoming FRED (Fathers Read Every Day) conference 6. Created “What’s Cooking” booklist for use in 2008 Summer Reading. B. Library Clerk, Kelly Olson 1. Placed and received numerous book orders 2. Received the February Magazine issues 3. Aided in the preparation of the State Annual Report 4. Aided in the preparation of the Library’s portion of the City’s Annual Report.
