NEW I3USTNESS
A. Franclise Fee for 4th Quarter 2005
~~e received the 4th Quarter franchise fee payment and a copy was enclosed in the agenda
packets.
B. Notice of the Addition of the New Family Tier
Begiluling March 31, 2006 Comcast is offering a new level of service called the Family Tier.
Parents will be able to limit their children's access to only the programming cui7~ently available
on the Basic service and 16 additional ehaivlels of family oriented programming resultuzg in
the "Family Tier". This service will be available with a Digital Converter which will allow
customers to utilize the capacity of that converter to set additional restrictions on access to
programs on the available channels by rating.
A television with a V chip does much the same, as does using the parental control capability in
the converter boxes. But people don't necessarily 1C110W how to use these features, so Comcast
is providing the service for them. The fee for tlis service is $9.10 for the Basic service, plus
$14.95 for the Family Tier Chamlels, plus the fees far the box, remote, peg alid franchise
charges.

B. Report of Comcast-
Kathi answered questions regarding the scats provided in the reports for January-March,
and she briefly reviewed the high poizlts of the monthly newsletters. Demzis questioned the
outage reports and what dictates when outage information is detailed. He felt that since
small neighborhood outages of 7-9 households wouldn't notify IVR of a prable7m,
information isn't readily available when reports are made. Kathi agreed aiid said she would
address this hatter with others at Comcast.
C. Report of City Staff
Jean reported that since VHS-VCR tapings provide poorer quality, tlZe City is changing
over to recording in DVD format.
D. Report of the Cable Attariey
Nothing fiu-ther to report.
