The Friends of the Library met on January 7. They requested the wish list from the library director for the February meeting. The Friends have decided to not pursue a fundraiser at this time, but will remain open to organizing one in the future. The Friends of the library assisted in displaying the tax forms in the east room. b. At home service made 3 deliveries totaling 45 items this month. A wheeled crate was purchased for volunteers to use when delivering materials. c. Volunteers have put in over 20 hours this month. The volunteer project of checking all adult fiction to see that it is correctly cataloged is nearly done. Volunteers have also updated the vertical file with 2008 travel information, maintained the scrapbook, and completed some cleaning projects. II. Collection a. No adds to the collection in the areas of DVDs, music CDs, or books on CD have been made. A standing order with Random House will again be used for spoken word CDs this year because of the large discount offered as well as free replacement of damaged items. III. Projects a. Fidelity cleaners thoroughly cleaned the boardroom in January; staff assisted by clearing all items and furniture from the floor. b. Displays in the Adult Department of the library are all about the Hot Reads program. Cristy Tombarge did a wonderful job creating the materials this year. A weekly word scramble encourages patrons to visit the library each week, and suggested titles from different reading categories have been circulating well. c. New shelving for the music compact discs has been installed. The pages are working on reorganizing the CDs. When this project is complete, the east room will be rearranged. d. The Hot Reads for Cold Nights reading program is in full swing. Thirty- one patrons registered in the first week, and one weekly prize has been awarded. This year’s graphic includes an eagle in front of a full moon.
