III. PROJECTS
??
I was asked to speak at Central Middle School to a group of Level 2 reading students. There
were 8 students in the class and I answered a number of questions regarding library services
and library cards.
IV. MEETINGS
??
I am pleased to announce the library is the recipient of After School Activity grant funds
through collaboration with District 13. The Director and I attended the first organizational
meeting on 11/15. The grant will enable the library to expand its programming for children
and families for the next two years.
??
Iattended a meeting at the school district on 11/14 related to the AmeriCorps grant. This
is another collaboration between the library and District 13. We hope to be able to provide
mentors to aid in reading here at the library via this grant.
??
I attended the second meeting of the Comprehensive Arts Planning Program committee at
the school district on 11/5. This committee is setting the foundation for a Community Wide
Arts Plan that in the future will provide the library with access to local and metro art
programming.
??
I attended a meeting on the new Anokat publicity on 11/17. The publicity materials were
subsequently reworked to include additional language and changes in color scheme. Kelly
has done an exceptional job in producing the images required. The publicity campaign is
scheduled to be released the second week in January 2008.
V. STAFF
??
Library Aide Cristy Tombarge established new bulletin boards on both floors, created and
printed five booklists for the children’s department, and established two new book displays
in the children’s department. Cristy and Kelly Olson took inventory of materials in storage
and reorganized the magazine storage area. Cristy also re-designed the Columbia Heights
Public Library User’s Guide.
??
Kelly Olson produced a magnet design for the At Home Service for the library and spent
considerable time on a review of our periodical holdings and a clean up of periodical listings
within the catalog. She and Cristy also reorganized the magazine storage area.
