I. Programs
a. Friends of the Library held their October meeting on the first at the
Dragon House. A Spring Tea is being discussed as a possible fundraiser.
The friends will again participate in Project Bookshelf by collecting books
thth
from November 5 through December 14 to donate to SACA. The group
also authorized expending the banked Campbell’s labels to add a personal
public address system and several DVD’s to the library’s collection.
b. At Home Service provided 5 deliveries totaling 57 items in October.
c. Volunteers have worked 20 hours for the library this month. Cleaning and
labeling projects were completed, as well as homebound deliveries.
d. A new adult book discussion group began in September and continued in
October. The title Running With Scissors was the focus of the group, led
by Marsha Tubbs. Six people attended, with mixed reviews of the title.
Patrons expressed an interest in continuing the group in November and
after the first of the year.

e. A live theater event was held at the library on the 23. A professional
actor from the Bakken Museum performed about the life of Mary Shelley,
the author of Frankenstein. Fifteen community members attended the
entertaining show, including a photographer for a local newspaper.

attendance allowed for the class is two patrons, to provide individualized
instruction. One patron attended this particular session, and more interest
has been shown for future classes.
II. Collection
a. No new CDs, DVDs, or books on CD were added in October. I am
preparing large orders for November in all areas to expend the remainder
of the budgets.
III. Projects
th
a. Fidelity Cleaners conducted a walk through of the building on October 4.
The cleaning has been adequate. A several stains on the carpeting have
been spot cleaned this month.
b. Frankenstein’s monster has taken over the lobby of the library this month.
A huge “Frank” crashed through the existing bulletin board, a large
“Frank” figure appears in the front window, and the slat board display
features literature inspired by Frankenstein and quotes that begin with
“Frankly.”
IV. Meetings
a. I attended the Minnesota Library Association Conference in Mankato on
thth
October 24 through the 26. I attended many useful sessions, and will
submit a full report in a separate document.
