I. Programs
th
a. Friends of the Library met on September 10 in the library. They
discussed possible fundraisers for the spring and purchasing something for
the library with Campbellās labels points. The next meeting will be at the
st
Dragon House on October 1.
b. At home service provided 37 items to four patrons in September. A new
program was started, where selected items were taken to Parkview Villa
for the residents to check out. Only two residents came to look at the
books; the next visit in November will be better publicized within the
building.
c. Volunteers worked sixteen hours in the library this month. Major shifting
and re-labeling are nearly completed, as well as some cleaning and cutting
projects.
d. A discussion of the book Mercy Falls will take place in the boardroom on
th
September 27 as the first in a series of discussions for library patrons.
e. The second year of the Museum Adventure Pass program has begun. A
new three-sided display was provided, along with new posters, brochures,
bookmarks, and passes. Use of the passes has declined in September, in
part due to school beginning, and removing the passes from the circulation
counter has most likely impacted their usage.
II. Collection
a. Two new books on compact disc were added in September: Still Summer
by Jacquelyn Mitchard and The Not So Big Life by Sarah Susanka.
b. The DVDs from the previous order are in the process of being attached to
the catalog. When that is complete, one more order will be placed for the
year.
c. The music Compact Disc budget has been expended for the year.
III. Projects
a. Fidelity cleaners have been doing an adequate job. Their special services
unit was out this month to clean a biohazard in the restroom.
b. Displays in the library this month include a banned books collection,
which is drawing quite a lot of attention, and the bulletin board features
the Anoka County workforce center.
