PROGRAMS Summer programming came to a close in August. This summer we had 686 children participate in the Summer Reading Programs, 356 people attended Wacky Wednesday performances and 104 teens attended Anime workshops (4 sessions in all). Sixteen teens attended three sessions of Techno Teens (total of 48). Each Teen took home a donated PC, monitor, and keyboard. Thirty eights girls participated in the American Girl program. COLLECTION A. Weeding of the Juvenile Fiction Collection was completed. Materials were discarded based on low circulation and or wear and tear. B. Two large book orders were placed through B&T C. Business at the circulation desk continues to be brisk. The desk is busy much of the time throughout the day and Internet use has a constant turn around. III. PROJECTS A. Children’s department staff has begun work on the new Anokat Catalog publicity. This material is due to ACL in December. B. Staff produced a calendar of events for September through December C. Preparations for Teen Read Week and National Children’s Book Week are also underway. D. ICS classes completed registration for 2007-2008 Class Visits and for Bulk loans. E. Final MRAC report was completed and submitted IV. STAFF A. Children’s Department Clerk Typist, Kelly Olson continues to accept and complete tasks normally assigned to the vacant Adult Clerk Typist position. Wearing two hats has kept her busy with placing book orders, receiving books attaching books, receiving magazines, and a variety of typing and filing tasks. I anticipate this crunch to end by mid September. B. Library Program Aide, Cristy Tombarge has been busy filling in at the circulation desk, updating Summer Program statistics, preparing bulletin boards for fall, and preparing order files. Cristy also prepared and printed two booklists. C. Pages aides in the J Fic Weeding completed mending and shadowed new pages following training. Respectfully submitted 8/30/2007
