HomeMy WebLinkAboutOperational Report for Dana TO: M. Rebecca Loader FROM: Dana Weigman SUBJECT: June, 2007 Operational Report DATE: June 25, 2007 1. Programs thth a. The Friends of the Library held the annual book sale on June 6 and 7 this year. The Friends took in $1,101.80 including $110 in presale tickets. The library’s income from the sale was $162.75. The sale went very smoothly and was well organized by the Friends. The group held a meeting during the set up for the sale. Future fundraising ideas and purchasing additional items from the wish list were discussed. The next meeting will be September 10, 2007. b. At Home Service provided two deliveries in June of over 30 items. c. Volunteers provided an impressive 151 hours in June. The majority of the hours were for the book sale, although two dedicated volunteers have completed shifting and some much needed cleaning in the adult department. 2. Projects a. Two executives from Fidelity met with Linda Magee, Becky Loader and me to discuss some problems with the cleaner on June 12, 2007. It was decided that the present cleaner would no longer work in the library due to some strange occurrences in the building. A different cleaner has been assigned to the library and the work has been much improved. b. The displays for the month of June include a “Master the Art of Reading” bulletin board featuring famous paintings with books inserted into them. Coordinating bookmarks were also given away as a part of this promotion. The lobby display showcases fiction with famous people as characters. The Elvis books seem to be the most popular. 3. Meetings a. I met with the students at Brown College in Mendota Heights to view the library card designs and posters they created. There are several that are quite attractive; staff is still reviewing the possibilities. We may need to order new library cards before the end of the year because our supply is getting quite low.
