I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. Honeywell serviced the air conditioners 7/6.
B. A corroded connection in the sprinkler system was discovered 7/6. Olson Plumbing
is working on correcting the problem.
C. Heights Electric replaced several faulty ballasts in the Adult Reading Room 7/2 and
7/9.
D. Carole Blowers performed a walk-through inspection with Fidelity Cleaners 7/3.
E. Fidelity buffed the Activity Room floors 7/13.
F. The front 3M security system gate required a new board 7/18.
G. The windows were cleaned 7/27.
II. COLLECTION
A. Five book orders were submitted during the month.
B. Dana worked on collection development in the adult 000’s.
C. Adds and replacements were ordered for the adult collection.
III. PROGRAMS
A. Summer Reading Program started 6/1. The themes for 2007 are “Go Bananas”
and “Go Wild.” These programs are extremely popular with the kids.
B. The Friends did not meet in July.
C. The Library Board did not meet in July.
D. Five sessions of preschool storytime presented by Wilbur Hill were held during
July. Mr. Hill is a teacher and an enthusiastic storyteller.
E. Three sessions of preschool storytime were presented by staff in July.
F. Three sessions of Spanish storytime were held in July.
G. Three Wacky Wednesdays were held: big Fun Family Circus (7/11), Brodini
Comedy & Magic (7/18), and Crazy Daizy (7/25).
H. Puppet shows were presented 7/5, 7/12, 7/19, and 7/26 by the Recreation
puppeteers.
I. The Anime group met on 7/10, 7/17, 7/24, and 7/31.
IV. TECHNOLOGY
A. The network cable was stolen off the PAC terminal on the main floor 7/21.
B. 2008 budget requests for new equipment have been submitted.
V. STAFF
A. Marsha was a speaker at a conference 7/14 about the Neighborhood Bridges
program held at the Library in June.
B. Together with a representative from Human Resources, I interviewed eight
applicants for the vacant Clerk-Typist II (Adult) position 7/24 and 7/25.
C. I interviewed 15 applicants for the vacant Page positions 7/11 and 7/12.
D. Marsha and I met with Marlene Moulton-Janssen, Mary Caven, and Judy Soule
for a meeting about the new AnoKat 7/31.
VI. FOUNDATION
A. The Foundation Board did not meet in July.
VII. MISC
A. A MELSA crossover use survey was conducted 7/16-7/21.
B. Major projects:
a. Proposed 2008 budget hearing with Finance Director and City Manager
b. Preparation for summer programs
c. Interviews for vacant positions
