Ca11~- All.Ayes: Mr. Robert b. Diedrich, architect and engineew, was present 'to~ans:wer any questions the Council may have in regards to the spec.if.icat.ions or evaluation of bids. ,. ! Mayor Nawrocki began the.meeting:by.stafing that the purpose of this special meeting was for:the consideration of bids on•the air: conditioner for Liquor Store #1. Bids on Air Conditioning•Unit City Manager Watson reported on,the bids that were received for the air conditioning unit at the Liquor Store #1. The specifications called fora 7z ton air coeditioni.ng;unit with°an alternate deduct fora 5 ton un i:t. ; iB ids were received from: three companies. ~ Al l three bid both the 72 ton and 5 ton units. .. Based on these bids, Mr. Watson recommended ;t hat .award be made to Thompson Trane, the~low~bidder., and ,that award bermade for the ~ 72 ton unit rather than the 5 ton since i;t was recognized that the, 5 ton is somewhat smaller ,for the job and that there is not a very large cost differ.entiah:between the -,two .ani~ts. Mot ion -b;y ~ He~i ntz;. ;Seconded ;by Land . to _accep,t :the :b.i d of Thompson Trane in the amount of $5,836.00 fora 72 ton ain-conditioning ,unit, based on low competitive bids, and that_the-Mayor and City Manager be authorized to enter into contract for same: Roll Call -all ayes. i . , -125- May 2, 1975 Mayor Nawrocki pointed out that there was a considerable difference in amounts with the other bidders. Robert Diedrich stated that it was largely due to the fact that Thompson Trane was fami liar-with the building and was therefore able to bid at a lower price. Counc i 1 man Norberg fel t that 72 ton was„ large enough for the 1 i quor store. He noted that the unit would be put in the off sale and that the ma ke-up would be in the lounge area. Mr. Diedrich confirmed this and further stated that about 22 tons would be pumped into the off sale and that the remaining 5 tons would be pumped into the lounge area. Councilman Norberg asked how this was going to be brought over to the lounge area. Mr. Diedrich stated that it would be duct over. He also pointed out that it was 'an overhead unit. Mayor Nawrocki questioned the use of the present unit. Mr: Diedrich stated that the present unit would continue to be used as the hea;~ing unit for the 1 iquor store.
