February operational report

I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. Honeywell performed routine maintenance on the HVAC 2/2.
B. The Fire Department performed the building’s annual inspection 2/5 and no violations were
found.
C. The windows were cleaned 2/9.
D. Fidelity buffed the Activity Room floors 2/16.
E. Orkin performed routine maintenance 2/21.
II. COLLECTION
A. Staff is working on becoming proficient using the new book ordering procedure.
B. A dvd order and a cd order were placed.
C. Spanish language materials related to the “En Su Biblioteca” grant were ordered.
III. PROGRAMS
A. Four sessions of preschool storytime were held during the month.
B. The Library Board met 2/6 with all members present.
C. The classes from Immaculate Conception School visited the Library at their regularly-
scheduled times during the week of 2/5-2/9.
D. Dana prepared for the book discussion scheduled 2/10 as part of “One Book/One County.”
Unfortunately, no people showed up to participate.
E. The Friends met 2/12 with 10 people in attendance. They voted to purchase the following
items for the Library: four chairs, 10 archival boxes for the local newspaper, Early
Childhood easel, and 2 book trucks.
F. The bulk loan was delivered to the schools 2/15.
IV. TECHNOLOGY
A. Staff practiced offline circulation 2/9.
B. A new receipt printer was installed in the Children’s Department 2/22.
C. The Library purchased a laptop for use by staff.
V. STAFF
A. Interviews were conducted for the vacant Library Clerk position.
B. The vacant Library Supervisor position was re-advertised.
C. Kelly was cross-trained in how to prepare payment vouchers by Jeanine.
D. Becky attended the Public Service meeting 2/22 at the Mississippi branch.
VI. FOUNDATION
A. The Board met 2/21 with six members in attendance. Discussion centered on the 2007
fundraiser and preparation of the brochure for the annual giving campaign.
VII. MISC
A. A MELSA crossover use survey was conducted 2/5-2/10.
B. Major Projects:
a. Scoring applications and conducting interviews for vacant Library Clerk position.
b. Preparation of the City version of the 2006 annual report
c. Processing of large quantities of donations
