week of 1/8.
b. The bulk loan was delivered to the schools 1/18.
c. The winter session of storytime began 1/30. This will be the first session where
storytimes will highlight Early Literacy Skills to the adults in the room.
Beginning with the Winter storytime session COH will be joining other libraries
across the metro in participating in the State’s Early Literacy Initiative.
II. COLLECTION
a. In an effort to reduce supply costs the staff is experimenting with a new book
ordering process. The first orders were placed and received by Kelly in January.
The new process has slowed our ordering process as we still have some kinks to
work out but the new process has great potential.
III. PROJECTS
a. Children’s Department staff prepared poster, discussion questions and flyer for
the “One Book/ One County” project that will be part of the Anoka County
Sesquicentennial celebration. Kelly deserves a tremendous amount of credit for
this project, which is exceptional in its appearance. Her skills within the Quark
program definitely have been a benefit to the library.
b. COH received $1200 to expend for Spanish Language materials via a LSTA grant
received by MELSA. The grant called “Su Biblioteca,” will enable us to purchase
both adult and juvenile materials to add to the collection. Marsha prepared and
submitted an order for Easy CD/Book combinations as a part of the grant. She
will also be serving as a member of the committee to establish programming to
coincide with MELSA’s publicity promotion set to be released the first of March.
IV. MEETINGS
a. On 1/23 & 1/30 I attended two planning sessions for “Su Biblioteca” at LSS. The
committee arranged for distribution of the funds for selection purposes and began
planning for programs.
V. STAFF

as part of a “We love our Friends” promotion in February.
