1) Programs
Friends of the Library
a) The did not meet this month. Library staff is preparing a wish
list of items to present at the February meeting.
At Home Service
b) The has provided materials to two patrons this month. Volunteers
delivered a total of forty items to patrons at home.
Volunteers
c) have delivered materials to homebound patrons and shifted materials and
labels on the shelving this month.
2) Collection
a) DVD
A order is being prepared to be submitted in February. Many replacement DVD’s
will be purchased, along with many new titles.
b) CD
Books on continue to be a popular collection. An order for new books on CD will be
placed in Feb.
c)
Music CDs will also be ordered in February.
3)
Projects
th
a) Fidelity cleaners
conducted a walk through on January 17. The regular cleaner has
resigned; substitute cleaners will continue at the library until a replacement can be found.
b) Displays
for January include “Cabin Fever Fixers,” travel writings, and the bulletin board
features “At home service” complete with a snow-covered cabin and snow figures.
c)
The library received a $1,000 grant from WGBH in Boston to celebrate family reading
using the Arthur Read character from the Marc Brown books. An event is planned for

Arthur’s Book Challenge
March 5 to kick off a family reading program called .
Posters and bookmarks are being prepared to promote this event throughout the
community.
d) One book, one county
preparations and promotions continue in the library. A discussion
of the book, The Children’s Blizzard by David Laskin will be held at the library on
th
February 10.
e) Tax forms
are out for public distribution. Interest seems high already this year.
f) Hot reads for cold nights
reading program is in full swing. Patrons are encouraged to
come to the library weekly to play a game and check out books. Prizes are awarded for
game winners and random drawings for reading library books. The program runs through
rd
March 3.
4) Meetings
a)
I met with the librarians at the Mississippi branch library to learn how the county orders
th
spoken word books and music CDs on January 24. I learned a great deal, and hope to
foster increased communication with the county on these projects.
