I. BUILDING MAINTENANCE
A. Xcel Energy repaired the two security lights on the poles in the Library’s parking lot 12/1.
B. Heights Electric checked the batteries in the emergency lights and exits 12/5.
C. Schindler performed routine maintenance on the elevator 12/7.
D.
Fidelity buffed the floors in the Activity Room 12/15.
E.
The windows were cleaned 12/16.
F.
The new stall in the women’s restroom was installed 12/18.
G. The pilot light went out on the boiler 12/18, and Honeywell responded.
H.
City Wide Lock repaired the front door panic bar and lock 12/18.
I. Dana conducted a walk-through with Fidelity Cleaners 12/21.
II. COLLECTION
A. Dana has set up a new process for book orders using an online form. Staff will still be able
to print work forms when needed for items that are not hits in the database. She will train
everyone on how to use the new process.
B. Volunteer Shari Alexon has completed re-labeling the reference section and the adult
paperback racks.
C. Dana has weeded the mysteries, science-fiction, and western hard covers in preparation to
shift them into separate sections at the end of the fiction.
D. I have started weeding the large print collection.
E. Year-end monies have been expended in all areas of the collection.
III. PROGRAMS
A. The Friends of the Library met 12/4 with 10 members in attendance.
B. Two holiday story times were held 12/5.
C. The Library Board met 12/5 with all members in attendance.
D. Dana taught an “Introduction to the Internet” class 12/6.
E. The bulk loan was delivered to the schools 12/7.
F. Marsha and I met with Mary Caven 12/11 to review the poster and bookmark for the “One
Book” program. Kelly Olson has provided the graphics know-how for the two items.
IV. TECHNOLOGY
A. Wi-fi continues to be well-received and heavily-used by the patrons.
V. STAFF
A. I met with Donna and Michelle 12/4 to prepare our report on call numbers and cataloguing
as relates to the proposed video changes coming in January. The whole committee will meet
on 12/20 to combine the sub-committees’ reports.
B. I attended the ILS meeting 12/7.
C. Marsha attended an all-day workshop on early literacy and storytelling 12/12.
D. Library Supervisor, Dan Marcou, has submitted his resignation as his other job has offered
him more hours. Applications are being accepted for his replacement.
VI. FOUNDATION
A. The Foundation Board met 12/5 with four members in attendance. Members tabled the
donation campaign brochure until the January meeting. Discussion on a joint meeting with
the Library Board on public relations resulted in two potential dates in January.
VII. MISC
A. Marsha and I met with Linda Ernst from Independent School District #13 (ISD #13) 12/1 to
st
discuss partnering in an application for a 21 Century Grant. Marsha will look into potential
qualifying programs, and I will pursue wording for a Memo of Understanding. The
application needs to be completed before school adjourns for the winter holidays. I attended
a meeting of all the grant writers 12/14 at the school district to prepare additional sections
for inclusion in the grant
B. As a former recipient, I participated in reviewing the nominees for Employee of the Year for
the City. Assistant City Engineer Kathy Young, who is the first woman to serve as President
of the Minnesota Public Works Association, was selected from the outstanding group of
candidates
C. The three staff workstations in the lobby were replaced 12/7. The existing furniture was
from the 1970’s and had been adapted one time too many for computer use and ergonomics

D. Staff attended the annual City Holiday Luncheon 12/13. Jeanine Schmidt received her 20
anniversary service award as a City employee
E. Special projects:
a. Approval of 2007 part-time raises
b. Approval of ACL contracts
c. Approval of 2007 budget
