PROGRAMS A. The bulk loan was delivered to the schools on December 7 BThe classes from ICS visited during the week of December 11. . December Program Title Date Children Adults Holiday Storytime 12/5/2006 9 6 II. COLLECTION A. Weeding was completed in the Juvenile and YA paperback areas. B. Staff is working on new booklists for the department: “Laugh Your Head Off” -- funny fiction, Fountas & Pinnell reading lists for upper grades, updated “Fantasy Fiction”. Most of the lists are early preparation for heavy summer usage. III. MEETINGS A. Library Director and Children's Librarian met with Linda Ernst from District 13 on December 14. The school district requested that the Library become a partner in the next application for 21st Century Grant. The library agreed and documentation was prepared and submitted for inclusion in the application. B. Children's Librarian Marsha Tubbs attended a 1/2-day workshop provided by MELSA on early literacy. The workshop demonstrated the ways of introducing literacy and a love of reading to very young children. C. Marsha attended a sharing session with other Anoka County Librarians on December 12. Librarians prepared a sample storytime and shared ideas along with book titles that had been used successfully throughout the year. IV. PROJECTS A. The third MRAC (Metropolitan Regional Arts Council) grant application has been prepared and will be submitted by the January 5 deadline. This is the grant that supports the Neighborhood Bridges Project, which has been very successful the last two years. Thank you to the foundation for their help with this project. B. Preparations have begun for Summer 2007. Preliminary schedules and planning are well underway. 2007 is shaping up to be another BIG year of public service. C. With considerable help from Dan Marceau and John Brosnahan we have been able to accurately price used library materials and are looking forward to a sale cart for 2007. IV. STAFF A. Staff has been very busy closing down business accounts for 2006 and beginning preparations for 2007. Pages are shifting various parts of the collection to make room for new arrivals and relabeling shelves where necessary.
