HomeMy WebLinkAboutSeptember 15, 2006 canvas OFFICIAL PROCEEDINGS CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS CITY COUNCIL PRIMARY ELECTION CANVAS SEPTEMBER 15, 2006 Call to Order/Roll Call Mayor Peterson called the meeting to order at 7:41 a.m. Present: Mayor Peterson, Councilmember Nawrocki, Councilmember Diehm, Absent: Councilmember Williams, Councilmember Kelzenberg Pledge of Allegiance - recited Adopt Resolution No. 2006-136, Canvassing Primary Election Returns of September 12, 2006 Motion by Nawrocki, second by Diehm, to waive the reading of Resolution 2006- 136, there being ample copies available to the general public. Upon vote: All ayes. Motion carried. Motion by Nawrocki, second by Diehm, to adopt Resolution 2006-136, being a Resolution Canvassing Municipal Primary Election Returns. Upon vote: All ayes. Motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 2006-136 CANVASSING MUNICIPAL PRIMARY ELECTION RETURNS WHEREAS, the City of Columbia Heights, did on the 12th day of September, 2006, conduct and hold a Primary Municipal Election for the purpose of nominating candidates for the office of Mayor and two offices of Council Member to be voted on at a General Municipal Election on November 7, 2006; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Columbia Heights at a meeting of said Council held on the 15th day of September 2005, did canvass the returns and results of said Primary Municipal Election; and WHEREAS, the following results were determined by said canvass of said Primary Municipal Election, to wit: TOTAL BALLOTS CAST IN ELECTION: 2,424 Valid Votes Cast for Mayor Gary L. Peterson 1,172 Joseph A. Sturdevant 738 Ian Payton 346 Overvotes 0 Times voted blank 168 Undervotes N! A Valid Votes Cast for Two 4- Year Council Seats Tami Ericson Diehm 1,277 Bruce Kelzenberg 1,191 Ted Landwehr 724 Kevin Bumgardner 488 Bob Odden 395 Overvotes 0 Times voted blank 178 Undervotes 4] 7 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City ofColuml:ia Heights, that Gary Peterson and Joseph A. Sturdevant are hereby declared to be the candidates for two year office of Mayor and that Tami Ericson Diehm, Bruce Kelzenberg, Ted Landwehr, and Kevin Bumgardner are hereby declared to be the candidates for the two four-year Council Seats for the General Municipal Election to be held on November7, 2006.
