HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 1978-1 RESOLUTION 78-1 RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MN FINDING THE PRELIMINARY PLANS FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF A PRIMARY SECTION OF THE C.B.D. AS PRESENTED BY THE COLUMBIA HEIGHTS DEVELOPMENT CONSORTIUM AND APPROVED BY THE DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL AND HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN OF COLUMBIA HEIGHTS, MINNESOTA WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of Columbia Heights, MN by Resolution 77-1 gave a favorable opinion of the "Downtown C.B.D. Revitalization Plan" dated March 2, 1977. This plan outlined a strategy which the City/HRA would take in reversing the economic and structural deterioration of its Central Business Districi, and, WHEREAS the Columbia Heights Development Consortium herein known as the developer presented preliminary plans for the redevelopment of a significant portion of the C.B.D. (see attached map) and these preliminary plans were approved by the Housing and Redevelopment Authority and Downtown Dr\'o10rment Council, and, WHEREAS, it is necessary that any redevelopment ~"", '. ,.,oposed for the downtown C.B.D. be compatible with the goals and objectives of the city's Comprehensive Plan. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Planning Commission of the City of Columbia Heights, MN, that, having reviewed the plans as presented by the Columbia Heights Development Consortium and after relating these plans to the Comprehensive Plan, it is the opinion of this Commission that: 1. The proposed plan by the Columbia Heights Development Consortium for the redevelopment of a section of our C.B.D. is consistent with the goals and objectives of the Comprehensive Plan of this community. 2. The proposed plan is consistent with the needs of the community in regard to revitalization of this important part of our community. 3. The Housing and Redevelopment Authority and Columbia Heights Development Consortium should actively pursue the formation of a final development plan to be presented to the City Council of Columbia Heights, MN for their review and consideration.
