Friends of the Library: The Friends of the Library met on Monday, May 1 at 1:00 P.M. in the Library Boardroom. They discussed the upcoming book sale, and a work signup sheet was th passed around. The Friends next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 6 (book sale setup day) at about noon. B. At Home Service: During the month, deliveries were made to three homebound patrons one of whom was new this month. Merle Olson, library patron, has offered to deliver books, and she made two of the deliveries this month. II. COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT: A. I placed orders to Books on Tape and Baker and Taylor for books on CD. Also travel brochures and maps were received from several states. III. PROJECTS AND GOALS: A. Supply budget: The supply budget was updated through May 22, 2006. B. Inventory: I updated the supply inventory on Excel and began taking a count of supplies on hand. C. Supply ordering: A variety of supplies were ordered this month from Demco and Office Depot. D. Book sale publicity: Signs and bookmarks publicizing the book sale were sent to all branches of the ACL. I sent news release to the Focus and Northeaster newspapers, and staff has been passing out book sale bookmarks to patrons as they check out. The sale is also advertised on the sign in front of City Hall. E. Book Display: The display in the lobby of the library features new non-fiction. The display in the adult reading room continues with new fiction. F. Fidelity cleaners: The cleaner continues to do an adequate job cleaning the library, and on May th 19 Fidelity conducted a walkthrough of the library. G. Volunteers: Adopt-a-Shelf volunteers preformed 12 hours of service this month. H. Annual Report Flyer: Information for the library’s annual report flyer was submitted to Clerk- typist, Kelly Olson. I. Routine tasks: Address changes were made to patron’s records when notices were returned to the library by the post office. J. Procedures manual: Throughout the month, I continued updating my procedures manual. IV. MISCELLANEOUS A. Supervised staff while Becky was away from the office on 5/11 and 5/12. B. Prepared copy for the June library Sampler. C. Added new books to COHDISPLAYABK. D. Typed up an agenda for the Friends’ meeting. E. Posted weekly the New York Times Best Seller List. F. Posted signs for the Memorial Day holiday. G. Sent out May library newsletters to City and ACL staff. H. Prepared weekly task calendar. MMK/jms
