COLLECTION A. Weeding of the Easy book collection is complete. Staff has begun weeding of the J Nonfiction collection. B. An order was placed for additional books on CD to replace lost or damaged audiocassette titles. C. Staff continues to work on weeding of the high circulating items. Thus far, most of these materials have been replaced in the past and therefore do not reflect the high circ figure attached to them. This is resulting in very few withdrawn items. D. A large book order was placed to Baker and Taylor for J and YA fiction titles. III. PROJECTS & MEETINGS A. Work continues on the Teen Reading Program for this summer. Publicity materials are being prepared by ACL and critiqued by the committee. Marsha will be contacting local business establishments in search of donations for incentives. B. Contracts were forwarded to the members of the Summer Performers schedule. Several have been returned along with several options for cable taping. C. Marsha presented the wish list to the Friends on behalf of the Director on February 6. IV. MRAC A. Nine applications have been requested for the Neighborhood Bridges program. B. The program has been publicized in Heights Happening and the Northeaster. Posters and flyers have been distributed locally to public bulletin boards, schools and gas stations. Parent letters were made available to Central Middle School and ICS. V. SIRSI A. Staff completed one of several database clean up projects related to SIRSI. VI. MISCELLEANEOUS A. Bulk loan materials were distributed to area schools on February 2. Thanks to Public Works department for the loan of a vehicle. We have temporarily lost the aid of CSO’s due to low staffing. B. Classes from Immaculate Conception visited the week of February 12- 17. C. Students from the Academy of Bio-Science visited on February 6. D. Students from the Alternative Learning Center visited on February 22. VII. STAFF A. Pages spent the month of February aiding in the weeding of the Easy collection, mending of materials and shifting of the Easy non-fiction. Nick Olberding aided Library Clerk, Kelly Olson in the database clean up project. B. Library Aide, Cristy Tombarge also aided in the database clean up project, she received some large supply orders in Mary Kloss’s absence and printed the Sampler. She also made changes to the award booklists from 2005 based on the new 2006 awards. Cristy is working on National Library Week promotions and an Early Literacy bulletin board to go up in March. Cristy maintained service at the circulation desk in February while other staff members worked on database clean up. C. Library Clerk, Kelly Olson completed the acquisitions portion of the database clean up projects and continues to work on clean up of the serials. She prepared and produced posters and flyers for the Neighborhood Bridges program, ordered and received books, and aided in the completion of the city’s annual report.
